Outdoor learning is very important to us at Kirkby Malham School and plan it into our curriculum. We want our children to learn from and in the outdoor environment.

We use the Forest Schools approach but tailor it to our children and locality. We believe working with nature and developing an appreciation of the natural world helps develop a fully rounded pupil.

We take part in Forest Friday activities where the whole school go and work outside in our huge outdoor area. They communicate, negotiate, compromise and learn from and with each other, children of all ages work together.

There is no better place to learn than the outdoors and we are very fortunate to have extensive grounds including our very own woodland area.
