Mr Richard Wright by school building

Welcome to our school website. I hope that you enjoy reading through the pages and find the site easy to navigate.

We are incredibly proud of our warm and friendly school and the innovative way the staff team work together with parents, governors, children and the community to create teaching and learning opportunities that are relevant, meaningful and fun.

Kirkby-in-Malhamdale Primary is a Voluntary Aided school supported by a secular foundation trust and we operate as part of a Federation of two local Schools, which includes Settle CE Primary.

Our school is much smaller than average. We currently have 56 pupils on roll, which means very enviable class sizes and working groups that include generous adult to child ratios.

We are blessed to be situated in the very heart of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, which provides fabulous opportunities for outdoor curriculum learning.

Being a small school enables us to really get to know the children and families that use our services and to personalise the learning experience of each child.

We have a very strong academic track record which has resulted in achievement awards and national recognition.

In February 2019 Ofsted judged our school to be GOOD in all areas and praised the hard working ethos and impeccable behaviour of pupils.

We are considered to be a Category One school by the local authority, which reflects the high standards in leadership, teaching and learning at the school.

We offer after school provision at the school and holiday care during the Easter and Summer holiday period via our partner site in Settle

In our website you will find a brief outline of the way in which we work. As well as describing the aims and philosophy of the school, the site also explains our approach to the curriculum and emphasises the importance of strong partnership working between home and school.

We have clear aims and values which we proudly promote throughout the school (please see PDF - Aims and Values below) which reflect our Partnership Values.

I hope the website is useful to both current and prospective parents and encourage those who are interested in our school to arrange a visit so that you can meet the staff and children. Appointments are easily made by telephoning the school on 01729 830214.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or need to know more. Thank you for your interest in our school.

With best wishes,

Richard Wright

Executive Headteacher.
